Saachi Tiwari on Simran’s Different Spark in Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain

Saachi Tiwari opens up about playing Punjabi girl Simran in Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain and why the new SAB role has a different spark from Leela.

Saachi Tiwari Finds Simran's Different Spark in Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain

Saachi Tiwari has a new address on Indian television. After carrying the lead in the drama Prem Leela, she has joined Sony SAB’s comedy-drama Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain, produced by Yash and Mamta Patnaik’s Inspire Films. In her new outing she plays Simran, a Punjabi girl with a personality Saachi says is completely different from the character viewers last saw her as.

The switch matters because it tests whether a lead actor can shake off a recent role quickly. For SAB’s family-comedy audience, Simran is meant to bring fresh energy while the actor stretches into new territory. Sony SAB’s space also thrives on characters that feel close to family life, and a Punjabi-girl avatar gives the show a new texture.

Simran and Leela are not the same story

Saachi has a clear message for anyone expecting Prem Leela energy: do not. She told IWMBuzz there is absolutely no similarity between Simran and Leela, describing them as different personalities. What pulled her in was Simran herself, and the chance to play a Punjabi girl for the first time.

Simran has a different spark in her. I hope the audience finds her interesting too.

Saachi says she consistently chooses characters she can connect with and that can entertain her audience. She adds that playing Simran brought back memories of her earlier character Anmol, which made the role feel personally familiar even while it looks new. That kind of contrast is what helps an actor avoid being boxed into one leading-lady mould right after a hit.

Why the casting feels right on time

The makers reportedly ran an extensive search and multiple auditions before locking the female lead. Saachi was aware of the reports through articles and chose to look at the situation positively. Her reading is simple: what is meant for someone arrives when it should.

I just believe that things happen at the right time.

That attitude keeps the focus on the work rather than the wait. For viewers who follow every casting update, it also suggests the show wanted a particular energy for Simran.

What Saachi says about Simran

  • Simran is a Punjabi girl, a first for Saachi on screen.
  • The character is completely different from Prem Leela‘s Leela.
  • She hopes the audience enjoys the new spark in Simran.

Those differences matter more than they might look on paper. A new voice, body language and family setup are all part of what makes a character register with television viewers.

Prep, parents and a happy set

Before stepping on set, Saachi did her usual research to understand Simran. She credits her parents with helping her prepare, which made the whole process smooth. Working with co-star Raj Anadkat has added to the comfort. Saachi calls him a kind, fun and amazing person to work with, and says the strong script and team make her excited to reach the set every day.

For fans, that behind-the-scenes comfort often shows up on screen. The early signal is that Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain is giving Saachi a role she is genuinely enjoying.
