Akshita Mudgal’s Navratri: Garba Ease, Fasting and Gratitude
The Lakshmi Niwas actor on picking up Garba steps, keeping festive outfits comfortable and deciding fasts around her Zee TV shoot schedule.

Navratri 2026 has brought a fresh burst of festive chatter to Zee TV, and this time it is Akshita Mudgal’s turn to talk dance, discipline and devotion. The actor, who plays Radhika in Lakshmi Niwas, the Rashmi Sharma Telefilms show, has been open about how she plans to twirl through the season while managing a demanding shoot diary.
Garba by instinct, not by memorising every step
Akshita is a trained professional dancer, so traditional Garba does not feel like a heavy lift. She is the first to admit she may not know every folk step, but she backs herself to pick them up quickly. “Dance comes naturally to me,” she said, “so I think I can manage Garba pretty well too.”
That ease matters because several TV actors try to keep their festive posts polished and perfect. Akshita’s version is more relaxed: move with rhythm, stay open to learning, and enjoy the floor.
Comfort over costume while the music plays
For Akshita, Navratri joy is not about squeezing into a heavy, restrictive outfit. She prefers keeping it simple and comfortable, especially when she is dancing. Her logic is simple: if you are constantly adjusting your dupatta or thinking about your outfit, you are not fully in the dance.
She also has a smart rule for choosing a Garba partner. Rather than hunting for a familiar face, she said she would pick someone genuinely good at Garba so they can teach her a few steps along the way.
Fasting that fits a shoot schedule
Akshita does observe Navratri fasts when she is not shooting, but she is careful not to let a long working day and festive discipline clash. Long hours, the need for energy, and medication timings all come first. Her parents also prefer she skip fasting during heavy shoot phases, so the decision changes with her schedule that year.
The festive playbook viewers can borrow
- Dress for movement: pick breathable, comfortable Navratri outfits over stiff, layered looks.
- Pick a partner who can teach you: a good dancer is a better Garba companion than a familiar one.
- Make fasting flexible: if work or health demands energy, adjust the fast rather than pushing through.
When it comes to Garba songs, Akshita refuses to choose a single favourite—every year brings tracks she loves dancing to. More than the playlist, her mood this season is gratitude. After a year of hard work, she says she is stepping into Navratri with positive energy and a heart full of thanks.
