Bigg Boss Malayalam 8: Shijin recalls mother’s hunger sacrifice
Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 contestant Shijin opens up about childhood hunger and his mother's sacrifices during the life story task.

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8’s life story task has shifted from strategy talk to personal history, and Shijin’s turn brought one of the season’s most emotional recollections so far. In the latest episode, the contestant spoke about the hunger his family endured and the sacrifices his mother made to feed her children.
The stale-food argument, revisited
Shijin tied the memory to a recent argument inside the house. After he said the food served to the housemates was stale, they scolded him. Shijin said the incident did not affect him much, even when Lalettan asked him about it later.
His explanation was simple and pointed: “Because I have struggled a lot for food.”
What life at home looked like
Growing emotional, Shijin recalled the image of his mother tightening her skirt and staying hungry so the children could eat. “That image is still fresh in my mind,” he said.
School carried its own pressures. While classmates in Class 10 were chasing good marks, Shijin said he was running for “three dosas and an egg.” He would bring that food home and share it with his mother and younger sister.
Asked what his mother would have wanted to tell him, Shijin said: “Never give up in life, she would have told me. Because I have struggled the most.”
What the life story task changes
Bigg Boss is built on what viewers can see, but the life story task deliberately opens a different window. It lets contestants explain the reactions the house has already judged. Shijin’s stale-food moment is a direct example: what looked like a complaint about quality carried far deeper meaning for him.
For the audience, this is what changes:
- The stale-food comment now has a personal backstory: he grew up fighting for food.
- His mother’s hunger becomes the emotional centre of his story, not a game tactic.
- His Class 10 memory shows how survival shaped his priorities long before Bigg Boss.
Why viewers are reacting
The life story task has been making several contestants share experiences that stayed hidden during their time in the house. For Shijin, the story reframes a moment viewers may have read as a simple food complaint. As the season continues, these reveals are giving viewers a closer look at the experiences that shaped the contestants before they entered the Bigg Boss house.
