Indian Idol 12: Abhijeet Sawant’s big revelation on the reality show

The popular singing reality show Indian Idol 12 is attracting headlines for several reasons.  The show is becoming controversial for love affairs among contestants, performances by the participants, comments by judges, guests, and much more.  Apart from the host, makers, and judges, viewers are trolling the participants also on social media. Singer Abhijeet Sawant, winner of the first season of the reality show in 2004 has also voiced his opinion recently.  Abhijeet spoke about the changes that have been brought in the format of the show.  He also talked about Amit Kumar controversy and various others aspects.

Abhijeet Sawant spoke about the ‘extra elements’ that get added to the show. The music-based reality show’s focus has shifted from singing. Abhijeet said, “Duration of extra elements used to be short at our time. But more relevance is being given to these elements today. They must give challenging work to the contestants. When you work more on other elements, the level of singing goes down. We must spend more time on singing.”

Abhijeet also shared his views on fake love angles which are implemented in the show by the makers. In his opinion, “Every such element was fake in season 11, I have no clue about this season.” His statements seemed as if he was talking about the projected love angle between judge Neha Kakkar and host Aditya Narayan.

Indian Idol show has undergone a lot of changes in its format in the last few years. The singer commented that ‘fakeness’ is something that has been added up in the latest seasons. Contestants have become more professional, judges have become more vocal. There is less strictness from the judges, they are always praising the contestants. It’s both, good and bad. It’s good because it motivates contestants and bad because it leaves contestants with no clear idea of where to improve. Abhijeet also asserted that one must not take his suggestions negatively.  He is raising such issues because it is the show that made him what he is today, he ‘loves Indian Idol.’
