Kanwar Dhillon: I Don’t Chase Social Media Numbers

Udne Ki Aasha star Kanwar Dhillon says he posts every three-four days, avoids trend-chasing, and lets talent speak louder than follower counts.

Kanwar Dhillon: I Don't Chase Social Media Numbers

Kanwar Dhillon, who plays Sachin in Star Plus’s Udne Ki Aasha, is stepping back from the follower-count race. In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat, he said he would rather stay authentic than post every day or chase trends that do not fit him.

The actor’s stance stands out because television stars are often expected to keep their feeds active alongside their shooting schedules. Dhillon’s approach is different: show up as himself, on his own timeline.

He doesn’t need a daily content calendar

Dhillon was clear that he does not force content. ‘There are days when I don’t post for three or four days,’ he said. ‘I’m not someone who can manage to have content to post every day of my life.’ He added that he does not have the time to create new posts every day.

He told Filmibeat that he cannot blindly follow trends just to project a particular image. Instead, he prefers a balance between being active online and staying true to himself.

He said he likes the ‘best of both worlds’ and wants to be ‘very real, be it on-screen, off-screen or on social media.’ That realness, he believes, is exactly what connects him to his audience.

Talent first, social media second

For Dhillon, social media is ‘a by-product’ of his profession, not a place where he gets work. ‘In my case, talent has spoken for me, not my social media,’ he said. His ambitions lie elsewhere, and follower numbers will add up when they have to.

He accepts that the industry moves fast and that actors need to adapt in their own way. But adaptation, for him, does not mean turning his feed into a daily performance.

What his social media rules look like

  • Post once every three or four days instead of a daily grind.
  • Follow trends only when they match his real personality.
  • Treat social media as an extension of acting, not the main job.
  • Let talent and connection, not numbers, lead.

Why this matters for Udne Ki Aasha viewers

Dhillon’s off-screen personality also explains his comfort as Sachin. He describes himself as an extrovert, outspoken and full of opinions, and says that quality helps him play the character without forcing a new personality. In other words, Sachin’s energy has a real-life source.

For fans, the takeaway is practical: do not expect daily posts from him, but expect whatever he shares to feel like him. That may feel refreshing in a television landscape where some stars treat their feeds as a second show.

His comments offer a counterpoint in a medium where online visibility often looks like a job in itself. Rather than measuring himself by likes and shares, he is prioritising the craft that got him the role.
