Pati Patni Aur Panga Fire: AICWA Lists 4 Demands, Wants MD Out

AICWA has asked Maharashtra to order a time-bound probe and FIR after a fire on the Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 set spread to Hustle at Film City.

Pati Patni Aur Panga Fire: 4 Demands, Wants MD Out

A fire on the set of Colors TV’s Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2 has turned into a bigger demand for accountability in Indian television. On 5 October 2026, around 4 PM, flames broke out at Prime Focus Studio in Film City, Goregaon, and spread to the adjacent set of Hustle.

No casualties have been reported, but the All Indian Cine Workers Association is not treating this as a minor scare. AICWA has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asking for a time-bound investigation and the resignation of Film City’s managing director.

What AICWA says happened

In its letter, AICWA said the fire “did not stay confined to this set” and that it put the lives of “thousands of workers and artists” in the complex at serious risk. The association claims there were no fire safety arrangements on the Pati Patni Aur Panga Season 2 set at all.

The wording in the letter is strong. AICWA called the incident “criminal negligence” and argued that fire after fire in Film City has not led to real punishment for channels, producers or production houses. The message is that the people who profit walk away while workers pay the price.

That is why AICWA is not only asking for a probe. It wants the person at the top — the Film City managing director — to step down, arguing that accountability cannot stop at junior staff when sets run without basic safety.

Four demands sent to the CM

AICWA has asked the Maharashtra government to act on four points:

  • Order a thorough, time-bound inquiry into the fire and why no safety arrangements were in place.
  • Register an FIR for negligence against the channel, producer and production house.
  • Make the Film City managing director step down.
  • Make fire audits, on-set fire safety staff and firefighting equipment mandatory for every shoot, and cancel the licence of any production that fails to comply.

AICWA president Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta said accountability must be fixed at the top, otherwise the fires and the risk to lives will continue. The letter was also carbon-copied to Maharashtra’s labour ministers and the Brihanmumbai Mahanagar Palika commissioner, a sign that the association wants multiple departments involved.

Why this matters for viewers

Reality shows such as Pati Patni Aur Panga look glossy on screen, but they are built by large crews in shared studio spaces. A fire in one set can quickly become a danger for the next one — as it did with Hustle — and for everyone working in the complex.

AICWA’s push is also about the next shoot, not only this one. If the state accepts the demands, productions in Film City could face stricter safety compliance, and shows that skip basic measures may risk their permission to shoot.

For now, the ball is with the Maharashtra government. The report does not mention a response from the Chief Minister’s office or Film City management, but the letter is now officially on record.
