DJ Ali Mercchant Plays Afghan Jalebi for BB20’s Qazi Touqeer
DJ Ali Mercchant dedicated Afghan Jalebi to Bigg Boss 20's Qazi Touqeer in Goa, then shared the Fame Gurukul friendship behind the moment.

Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer has been winning hearts inside the house, and this week one of his oldest supporters made sure the outside world joined in. During a Goa set in front of thousands, actor-DJ Ali Mercchant played the much-loved track Afghan Jalebi and dedicated the moment to Qazi.
It was not a random request. Ali and Qazi go back to the Fame Gurukul days, and the DJ turned his performance into a public show of support while Bigg Boss 20 is still on the audience’s mind.
From Fame Gurukul to the Bigg Boss 20 house
Ali shared a long Instagram note after the set, and it read less like a fan message and more like a friend keeping score. He wrote that he has watched Qazi’s journey “from much closer than most people know,” back when Qazi was a couple of years senior to him and Ali was still finding his way in acting.
He also recalled rooting and voting for Qazi during Fame Gurukul, and praised the singer-actor’s “honesty, integrity, madness, respect and Rockstar spirit.”
For Ali, Qazi has built more than a resume. He wrote that Qazi has mastered not just singing and acting, but “the art of being a good human being.”
A Goa set that turned personal
The DJ has built a name on high-energy live events, from opening for Karan Aujla to sharing the stage with Sunny Leone, along with the Bollywood-inspired project Bollywood Reimagined.
But Afghan Jalebi carried a different weight this time. Ali wrote that, with thousands of people in front of him, he had to play Qazi’s “iconic Afghan Jalebi,” and called the energy “INSANE.” Some songs, he added, carry a different kind of nostalgia, and this one felt more special because Qazi was on his mind.
Qazi’s reply and the BB20 ripple effect
Qazi kept his response short and warm in the comments: “Means alot! Sending good wishes and love ❤️ Rise and shine!”
What made the moment land:
- Ali played Afghan Jalebi for Qazi during a Goa set in front of thousands
- His Instagram note traced their friendship back to Fame Gurukul
- He recalled voting for Qazi then and praised his growth now
- Qazi replied with love and a “Rise and shine” sign-off
For Bigg Boss 20 viewers, a moment like this matters beyond the music. Outside tributes tend to travel quickly through fan pages and voting groups, giving Qazi’s supporters one more talking point while the season is live. It is not a game move inside the house, but it strengthens the narrative around him.
Ali also wished Qazi a speedy recovery and wrote, “The whole country is rooting for you.” It is the kind of outside-the-house support that adds to the story BB20 fans have been following all season.
