Anil Kapoor Salutes a Rs 5 Crore Hero on Mr India Special
India Ke Top 1%'s Mr India Special put everyday heroes on stage: a P2P teacher, a Rs 5 crore founder and an auto driver who feeds cancer patients.

The latest episode of India Ke Top 1% was not your usual quiz night. Host Anil Kapoor and producer Banijay Asia handed the Star Plus and JioHotstar stage to a different kind of guest: real-life change-makers whose everyday work quietly lifts their communities.
The show premiered in September and already stands apart because it rewards common sense, logic and observation over textbook memory. The Mr. India Special pushed that idea further, building a whole episode around empathy and service.
Heroes, not celebrities, take the prime-time stage
Five stories stood out in the special.
- Popat Kasurde is called the P2P Teacher (Peon to Principal) because he handles everything from teaching to administration in a tiny village school.
- Shashi Ratodi founded Namkawali with one woman, Rs 10,000 and 10 farmers. It now works with 40-50 women and 10,000 farmers, with a turnover of Rs 5 crore.
- Sandeep Bacche, an auto-rickshaw driver of 29 years, offers Wi-Fi, TV and essentials in his vehicle, charges children and senior citizens Rs 10, gives free rides to hospital patients, and packs daily meals for cancer patients.
- Bittu TabahI is working to revive local water bodies.
- Virat Rathod, a government teacher and Kohli fan, used his own salary and friends’ support to bring children back to a school that had only four students.
From Punjab, Aarti also shared her work counselling children who had gone astray and steering them back through sports alongside their families.
The moment that gave Anil Kapoor a bittersweet pause
Sandeep’s rolling sanctuary of kindness reminded Anil Kapoor of his late neighbour and friend Baban from Chembur’s Tilak Nagar. The host said he last met Baban on Isi Ka Naam Zindagi, and the memory added an emotional layer that is rare in a prime-time quiz property.
Anil’s 40-year-old Chor Bazaar look
Anil kept the mood light with a very Anil detail. He revealed that the shirt and track pants he wore on set were a 40-year-old vintage purchase from Chor Bazaar. In a weekend that celebrated ordinary people, it was a small reminder that the show’s star does not need a stylist’s moodboard to be memorable.
Why the special works for TV families
India Ke Top 1% has found its hook by making television a family event. There are no puzzles built for coaching-class champions; the questions sit within reach of everyone at home. The Mr. India Special adds something else: an emotional reason to keep watching after the points are scored. For a format that could easily have leaned on celebrity power, this episode chose trust and real stories instead.
If you missed it, the episode is available on JioHotstar. Watch for the P2P Teacher’s stamina, Shashi Ratodi’s Rs 5 crore leap, and Sandeep Bacche’s Rs 10 rides that carry more than passengers.
