Before its release, CBFC requests that the Pathaan producers make changes to the film and the songs

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to chairwoman Prasoon Joshi, has asked the makers of the forthcoming movie Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, to make significant changes, particularly to the songs, and submit a revised version.

Before being submitted to the CBFC inspection committee for certification, the film recently underwent a thorough review procedure in accordance with the board’s standards.

One of its songs, ‘Besharam Rang,’ which has acquired popularity since its debut, has now sparked controversy since Deepika Padukone was wearing an orange bikini.

Pathaan was subjected to comprehensive scrutiny under CBFC norms, according to CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi. The committee has directed the film’s producers to adopt the requested changes, including those to the songs, and to submit the updated edit before it is exhibited in theatres.

Joshi said that “CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believes that we can always find solutions through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders.”

“Whilst the process is getting duly followed and implemented I must reiterate that our culture and faith is glorious, intricate, and nuanced. And we have to be careful that it does not get defined by trivia which takes the focus away from the real and the true. And like I have said earlier as well, that the trust between creators and audience is most important to protect and the creators should keep working towards it.”

The movie’s song ‘Besharam Rang’ was posted online on December 12, and it instantly acquired popularity. While many individuals appreciated the cheerful music, some found the saffron and green attire to be unpleasant. Many activists even staged a protest in Indore, where they burned Deepika and Shah Rukh’s effigies.

Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra opposed the use of saffron costumes in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ in a statement to the media a few days after the song’s release. He said there were certain unpleasant scenes in the film and vowed to have Pathaan banned from Madhya Pradesh unless they were removed.

“The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. It is clearly visible that the song of the film ‘Pathaan’ has been shot with a dirty mindset.”

The second song from the movie ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan,’ which was just released by Yash Raj Films, received a lot of positive feedback from the people.
