An FIR has been registered in Hissar, Haryana against ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ fame Munmum Dutta, for using a casteist slur in a video.
The complaint was registered by Dalit rights activist Rajat Kalsan at Hansi police Station in Hissar. The FIR was filed against the actress under section 3. Rajat Kalsan, a lawyer, shared a copy of the FIR against Mummun Dutta on Twitter.
Munmum Dutta shared a video where she is seen interacting with her fans. She says, “Lip tint ko halka sa blush ki tarah laga liya hai because main YouTube pe aane wali hoon aur main achha dikhn chahti hoon. Bh***i ki tarah nahi dikhna chahti hoon.”
Munmum was criticised after she used a casteist slur in a recent video. Several fans and followers lashed out at the actor for using such word on social media.
Twitter users also started trending #ArrestMummumDutta. A Twitter user wrote, UC celebraties like @moonstar4u , normalise casteist slurs & Casteism in Society. Shall not tolerated! Unconstitutional & shall be booked under SC/ST act immediately. #ArrestMunmunDutta.”
Munmum Dutta had also apologized for using a casteist slur in the video. She revealed that she was unaware of what the word meant because of a “language barrier” and didn’t not meant to hurt anyone. She wrote, “I sincerely would like to apologise to every single person who have been unintentionally hurt by the usage of the word and I sincerely regret for the same.”
Munmum Dutta is a model and actress best known for playing Babita Iyer on long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.
