On one hand the Web series was generally appealed to certain section of audiences while on the other hand there were considerable controversies on the social media. The web series supposedly offended religious sentiments of the masses at large. The netizens vehemently demanded a ban on the web series. It appears that the apology by the makers and the OTT platform could not salvage the damage.
There are stringent guidelines laid out by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for the streaming platform. The parameters are expected to be even stricter in the coming days. Therefore, the major streaming platforms are playing it really. They are ensuring that their forthcoming serials are being thoroughly reviewed by whizzes. The web series makers are going all out to ensure to ensure there are no religious or political references.
It has been disclosed by an OTT content producer that forthcoming web series would totally avoid political and religious content The producer further added that all the work in progress projects having references to politics and religion are being kept on hold.
Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tandav Season 1 has already faced immense outrage on social media. Hence Season 2 of Tandav will not be released as per the sources.
