Shanmukhpriya, Indian Idol 12 contestant had earlier participated in other reality shows such as Super Singer Season 9, Saregamapa Lil Champs & The Voice India Kids etc. Her electrifying stage presence and power-packed music have won millions of hearts. Her initial choice of the songs for the show had been of Kishore Kumar. Shanmukha managed to deliver the songs to the utmost delight of judges and audiences.
Shanmukhpriya’s expertise includes yodelling, which was earlier performed by male singers only. Shanmukhapriya took to yodelling at a young age. She worked very hard to prove her mettle in this genre. The Indian Idol Judge has stated “Shanmukha tum ladki nahin ajooba ho”.
Lately, the contestant as well as the show Indian Idol 12 have been much criticized. A large number of people on the social media have accused them of lying for gaining popularity. The reality shows are platform for unknown talents, whereas the participant Shanmukhapriya had appeared on the singing reality shows earlier. Additionally, SMP has also sung “Samjhe kya” song with ace singer Sonu Nigam.
The reality show “Indian Idol 12” fans felt cheated that the contestant Shanmukhpriya’s mother played financial constraints card also on the show to gain sympathy. Based in Visakhapatnam, Shanmukha’s parents are musicians. Her mother is a music teacher and her father plays violin and veena types of instruments. The couple has performed many concerts and were an inspiration to their daughter.
Shanmukha in her defense stated that though she had earlier participated in the reality shows, they were in the category of below 15 years. This is her first show in the senior category. As per Shanmukha “it was my dream to participate in the Indian Idol show. I have grown up watching the same and my parents also wanted to see me on this platform”.
