The recently released trailer of Thug Life has got fans buzzing—and not just for its gritty storyline. A kiss between Kamal Haasan and actress Abhirami has sparked a flurry of mixed reactions online.
In the scene, Abhirami playing Kamal’s wife is seen resting on his chest before sharing a kiss. Some viewers called the scene “unnecessary,” especially pointing out the nearly 30-year age gap between the actors. At first, many even mistook Abhirami for Trisha, leading to further confusion.
While some netizens defended the scene as an artistic choice, others criticized it for setting a problematic precedent in mainstream cinema. “It’s just storytelling, not real life,” argued one viewer. Another shot back, saying age-gap romances on screen should be treated with more sensitivity.
Amidst the controversy, the trailer still earned praise for its intense narrative. The film follows a seasoned gangster (Kamal) mentoring a young boy who later becomes his powerful ally (Silambarasan TR). But as power shifts, so do loyalties—leading to inevitable betrayal.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life is set to hit theatres on June 5, 2025, and promises to be a thrilling saga of ambition, power, and downfall.
