Manish Goel Enters Bigg Boss 20 as First Wild Card
Manish Goel, the TV actor known for Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Anupamaa, has entered Bigg Boss 20 as its first official wild card. Here's what it means.

Bigg Boss 20 has thrown its first proper curveball. Television actor Manish Goel, known to Hindi soap viewers for years, has entered the house as the season’s first official wild card.
The reveal happened during a Weekend Ka Vaar episode. Host Salman Khan introduced Manish, and the housemates were initially led to think the actor had come only to promote an upcoming project. Instead, the visit turned into an entry — Manish stayed back as a contestant, leaving participants to figure out how his arrival changes their game.
Who is Manish Goel?
For regular viewers of Hindi television, Manish is not a new face. His acting career stretches back more than two decades, with roles in some of the most familiar family dramas on Indian television.
- Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii — one of the long-running family sagas associated with his early career.
- Kasautii Zindagii Kay — the complex relationships-and-conflict serial many viewers remember him from.
- Bhabhi — another daily soap credit in his filmography.
- Anupamaa — a recent show that put him back in front of mainstream serial audiences.
- Bhagyalakshmi and Hamari Wali Good News — more recent work that kept him in the daily soap conversation.
He has also worked in films such as Hum Phirr Milein Na Milein and Hanak, so his career has never been limited to television alone.
Reality-show experience
Manish is not walking into an unscripted format for the first time. He was the runner-up on the first season of Nach Baliye with his wife Poonam Narula, and went on to appear in Zara Nachke Dikha, Say Shava Shava and Ustaadon Ka Ustaad. In 2013, he won the celebrity cooking contest Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki.
That matters because Bigg Boss does not work like a dance or cooking competition. Manish has told Mid-day that he was “specifically approached for a wildcard entry”, and he sees the show as a chance for audiences to see him beyond his scripted characters. But the house rewards people who can manage live-in relationships, nominations and constant public scrutiny — skills that are very different from learning choreography or plating a dish.
How his entry changes the house
Wild-card contestants enter after the season’s equations are already forming. That gives Manish a chance to watch the existing friendships, rivalries and alliances before choosing his own lane. It also means the group has to adjust quickly: a new player can shift equations simply by being present.
One relationship to track is his history with Mahhi Vij. Manish has already described her as “calculative” during his introduction, while Mahhi appeared happy to see someone she already knows. Whether that familiarity becomes an alliance, a rivalry or a careful distance is likely to play out over the next few episodes.
What to watch next
The real question is not whether Manish has television experience, but whether he can convert it into a Bigg Boss game. Wild cards often get a short window to make an impression before nominations catch up with them. How quickly he reads the house, and whether he decides to lead or stay independent, will determine whether he becomes a serious contender or an early twist that fades away.
